We haven't even started working in the engine compartment yet. We are switching brake boosters
eventually. I plan to run ProAm snouts, hubs and brakes up front. Although, we aren't budgeted for it for another month or
so. Thanks. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

| As of
today, I am done bending 2" tubing. The rest is all straight pieces and lots of notching. I will have some bending of
1.5" and 1" for seat mounts and grab handles.

Hey Gary, that vertical tube is a dead tube. I would put a "V" from the center of
the hoop up into the corners of your engine cage for triangulation. _________________ http://www.offrdmania.com/ |

Hey Gary, that vertical tube is a dead tube. I would put a "V" from the center of
the hoop up into the corners of your engine cage for triangulation. |
I
partially agree. The verticle tubes on passenger and driver side are the support bars for the horizontal tubes that come from
the cab cage through the firewall, and of course they connect to eachother over then fan shroud. The engine cage is tied into
the hoops for now and has a small 1" tube gusset down to the frame.
But, for the record, this engine cage
is really premature. For the most part, I just wanted to enter in to the engine compartment through the firewall, so as to
not have to tie in to the cab cage at a later date, which would require dissassembly of the dash, again.
The final
plan is to remove most of the components from the engine bay, inner fenders, install a 1 piece front fiberglass, and completely
build a legitimate engine cage that will not only remove the existing shock hoops, but also continue out the front of the
grille arear to a more desert style bumper, for nerfing.
In short, the existing engine cage is merely a foundation
for the next phase. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

We
tried really hard to make it work. But I really wanted my center console, and there was just not enough room. So, bench seat
for sale, buckets on order. Now, I can either mount/build a center console for the rear passengers, or mount a cooler between
the two rear seats. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

Air bags are all removed. I left some open space in the dash. I had to use some of the space
for my air ducting, since I had some 2" tubing running horizontal through the dash. I might use that space for mounting
a radio system. If I can afford a Lowrance, it will probably be installed in the part of the center console where it meets
the dash. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

| Gary,
please dont take this the wrong way. Im not out to bash you in any way, just offering my opinion. If that rearend were
to come up and smack the bottom of the cage you want the force to push outward, your current configuration would send the
force upward into a single point which could possibly break the cage. I added lines to your photo with one possible configuration
which would distribute the force outward lessening the force on that single point.

| No offense
taken. In fact, I've built much of this truck with the collaboration of friends and their opinions. In this case, there is
still more triangulation and x-bracing to be installed. These pics are, as usual, in progress. I plan to x-brace the tube
area forward of the axle, just like in your drawing. But, the area behind the axle, I chose not to do the triangles like you
have drawn, because I was more concerned with the rear shackle mount having a direct shot of support up towards the vertical
bar. kinda hard to explain. Also, you said if the "rear end were to come up to hit the cage", well, it's a mile
away, and will be bumped accordingly. Also the bump cans will have that same outward idea of support, not just up and down.
In other words, it's not done yet. Which makes me re-think posting progress pics.
One thing that I
do know for sure about this build. As soon as it's done, I plan to put it to the test. I don't think you've been offroad with
me, but I run hard. I will build it. Run it hard. Then, post pics and videos of results.
Do you mind me asking
what your fabrication and cage building background is? I always like to know where peolple's experience comes from. Do you
have any of your builds on a forum? website? or race-dezert? etc..? just would be cool to see some of your work. I'm always
trying to learn. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

So, just to humor myself, and a few of the guys here at the shop. We jacked up the rear end
to full bump(based upon driveline angle, and 1.5" of negative bend in the F87's, at this point) and the rear end is still
14" away from the cage. I'm not sure where you are getting the idea that my rear end will "smack the bottom of the
cage". My rear end will only "smack" my bump stops, which aren't even mounted yet.
I welcome constructive
criticism. But, I don't think it is wise to criticize someones build that is incomplete. It's like looking at a picture of
a cab cage in progress, that has only 4 posts(A pillar and B pillar) and then start posting comments about tubing missing,
when in reality, there is still a ton of work to be done.
After your comments about " the dead tube",
which was installed only to build off of, in the future, and also your Velocity(howe steering thread) comments, and now this.
I am starting to question your intentions on this forum.
If you want to criticize, make sure you know what the
f*** you are talking about. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

Yep! Batteries, might, just might fit on either side of the cell towards the back, one on driver
side, one and passenger side. If Optimas's dont fit, I may try Odyssey's. The cooler will be mounted in between the rear seats,
hard mounted, but detachable, and we might even run a drain line out the bottom through the floor. Kinda nice, as the ice
melts, it simply drains the water right out the bottom, that way by the time the drinks are gone, the cooler is empty, wipe
to clean!
The jack will be mounted across the back, right behind the cell, on it's side, locked. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

| You going
to polish that fuel cell ? or powdercoat ,That aluminum looks crappy after the desert silt hits it ! As for the jackI
think racer x or somoene else makes a badass mount for floor jack that fits the craftsman jack .Will check my Dusty Times
. We used to buy the craftman's jack unbolt the wheels and made a mounting plate that the jack would bolt to and then
it to the truck .That way if the Jack breaks you unbolt from the plate put the wheels back on and warranty it . _________________ IF ITS SMOOTH YOUR AIRBORN ! FABRICATION REQUIRED TRANSPORT 925-382-1058 TOO MANY THINGS ON BACKBURNER

| Bump
pads welded in place. UGH, that took some warming up to. I wasn't excited about mig welding to this piece of artwork(tubeworks
housing), but we had to move forward. Notice the angle of the pad doesn't match the angle of the leaf pad, because we kept
the bump pad 100% perpendicular to the bump stop.

Hopefully tonight. Notice, we finally welded the plating, I'll clean it up and get some better pics. My apprentice has been

| The 2.25"
piece of tubing, cut at an angle, on the outside of the leaf, will have 2 seperate tubes running down to it for support, from
two seperate points.

| Here's
the point at which most of the force will be focused upon hard bumps. If this ever breaks, then I'll hang it all up.
The aluminum tube plug is just sittin in there for the pic. It will be fully pushed in after paint.

1.5" tube, with .250 wall, would be 1" ID,
so my bumps won't fit in that, so you must be talking about something else. Are you talking about the front leaf mounts? Because
I have something similar to that description running inside the frame, as a collar for the bolt, you mean that cromoly stuff
on top of my tool box.??? be more specific, help me here.. _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

Oh, gotcha. It's a few thousanths over 5/8" I.D. and I think it was 1.125 O.D. I used it
between the leaf and the frame, as to not permanently build too far out off the frame.
Here's the run down from
outside - going in.
5/8 bolt running through 2.25" x .120 tubing, soon to be gusseted, it has a 3/16 backing
plate. Then the leaf spring. Then the cromoly spacer (in question). Then a 5/8 cromoly weld washer welded to a 3/16 round
plate, welded to 16 gauge sheer plating, welded to the frame. Then the sleeve. Then the inside of the frame, 16 gauge plating,
3/16 round plate, cromoly weld washer, then a washer and a nut. Confused? I am, _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |

to help from Navvy, Chris, Doug and Pete, we hooked up the fuel system and electrical, and we started the engine up. This
was a huge milestone for us. The anxiety of the engine running or or not, after pretty much tearing out all the wiring harnesses,
was driving me crazy. Now that it runs, we're tearing a bunch of it apart again.

Rollover valve not needed. If the truck rolls,
the fuel will fill the vent line, but won't exit the tube, because the tube end will be higher then the tank. |

well, compared to most of the high-end prerunners out there, I have more tubing per square foot then
they do. I just noticed Baldwins new F150 build by CRC and they hardly have anything in the door areas. check out their door
bars, or lack thereof http://www.race-dezert.com/forum/showthread.php?t=37032
If the truck goes in the racing direction, I may ad more support later.
I'm
also not exactly sure what bar you are talking about, b pillar cross support to c pillar? it's only an 18" gap, remember

awww, I gotcha. yeah,
I was on the fence about that. I'm over it now. I'd be interested in what you come up with though, and if you find any pics
of something cool, send 'em my way.
And, you're probably right, after some scratches, I'm sure I'll race atleast
one 1450 race. Just need links, more horsepower, front hubs and tranny work, UGH! _________________ http://www.norcalprerunners.com/ http://www.extrememotorsports.biz/ http://www.extremecarsales.com/ |
